Dawgs In Prison

Dawgs Blog

Today was a busy day at the Work camp as we took our official graduation photos and started some new training.

The weather was in our favor this morning and the result was sweat-free pictures!

We are proud of all the dogs as they continue to master their commands. June is being trained by her trainers in a wheelchair since her new Dad is in a wheelchair. Bella has really come out of her shell and is a very happy girl who excels at her recalls. Joey has mastered his Stays and does very well with control walking. Doug is also great with stays and is Mr. Personality. Flinn was adopted this past weekend and will be helping his new dad cope with PTSD from his service in Iraq. Baby was adopted  by one of her trainer's families and she is doing very well with all her commands.

Please spread the word about our wonderful DAWGS and help us find the last few their forever homes!

Looks like this class of graduates will be as terrific as the last one. Happy to hear that Bella is doing well. I'm looking forward to picking her up at graduation. A quick update on Bridget who many of you may remember won the most improved award at graduation but had to be carried out of prison; she did not want to leave her beloved trainers. Bridget has definitely come out of her shell and bonded with us. She is actually learning to play and not be so fearful which we love to see. Her training at DAWGS gave her a shot a happy life. Thank you so much

I am just beginning to volunteer with this program and can't say enough about how wonderful it is. I'm exhausted tonight because we spent all day testing dogs for the next class - but it's a good tired! It's unbelievable how much time the volunteers spent getting dogs ready for the new class, plus working with the inmates and dogs who are getting ready to graduate. Kudos to Sandi, Judith, Mel, and John - how many happy dogs have been saved because of your dedication - special place for you all at Rainbow Bridge - lots of hugs and kisses from the friends you all have saved!

I hope Gannon is learning and enjoying his school. I am getting things ready for him and we are looking forward to him becoming part of the family
